Overview

Engineers at the University of Kentucky and their associates have been developing and supporting state-of-the-art pipe network modeling technology for over 30 years. A number of technical achievements and teaching awards have been presented to members of the Pipe2000 development team in recognition of their work, which has set the world standard for pipe network technology.

Pipe2000 incorporates all the best existing modeling capabilities and introduces a number of powerful new ones. This advanced Windows (98/NT4/NT5/2000/XP) GUI (see next item) allows access to steady state, transient, gas, and steam models for a variety of applications and incorporates powerful mapping and comprehensive facilities management capabilities (AM/FM).

The Pipe2000 development effort combines a high level of hydraulic expertise for model development and advanced computer-engineering design of the graphical interface. This is the only way to produce the powerful modeling tools needed by today's engineers. Pipe2000 - Graphical User Interface (GUI)

The Pipe2000 GUI is the platform for all Pipe2000 Series models. Pipe2000 is a user-friendly Windows environment used with the Pipe2000 Series models to develop the distribution network. The GUI allows easy access to all Pipe2000 features. Data may be entered and displayed using a variety of advanced, dynamic, user-friendly graphics and presentations; the layout of the data entry (Information) windows may be modified to display as little or as much information as the user desires.

Pipe2000 Series Models

Pipe2000 : Surge performs complex analyses associated with transient pipe system operation and surge control due to valve closure (or opening), pump startup (or shutdown), load changes, etc.

Pipe2000 : Gas and Pipe2000 : Steam are compressible flow models for gas or steam distribution.

Pipe2000 : GoFlow is a fire sprinkler analysis model for fire protection and loss control assessment.

Pipe2000 : GoPlot produces water supply curves and fire pump test plots.

Offered several times a year, these courses are a great way to become quickly proficient with the Pipe2000 engines and familiarizes users with the full range of capabilities and features available to them.

USB Hardware Key

The USB hardware is key IS the Pipe2000 software license. The use of a hardware key was decided upon for version 2 to provide users with less hassles and more flexibility. Even with a non-network version of the software, the software may be installed on as many computers as desired (work, laptop, and home). Only the computer that has the key inserted will run the software. In order to do a presentation for a client, for example, simply unplug the key from the main computer and insert it into a laptop. The network key will work the same way and allow the license to be removed from the server to run a stand alone version.

With a hardware key, license features can be modified subsequent to purchase almost instantaneously via email. Pipes, Professional features, network capabilites, and even additional models or licenses can be added with a simple phone call to the software office and email exchange.

Computer Requirements

The minimum system requirements for PIPE2000 are:

6. Windows NT4 (with parallel port key only), XP, 2000 or later.

Extra RAM will increase performance particularly on large systems with multiple background images. All of our in-house systems that we use for PIPE2000 consulting work have at least 128 Meg RAM.

Installation Instructions (demo version)

Demo Version:installing the web site download.

1. After download is complete, unzip PIPE2000V2.ZIP into a temporary directory.

2. Run SETUP application.

3. In the Pipe2000 folder, use the "demo" icon to access the demo version of      Pipe2000 Version 2.

1. Insert the PIPE2000 Installation CD into your CD drive.

2. If the PIPE2000 install program does not start automatically, use Windows Explorer     to browse to your CD drive and run the SETUP application. This will install the     PIPE2000 software.

QuickStart Guide

The purpose of the QuickStart Guide is to get you started using PIPE 2000 as quickly as possible. It includes installation instructions, contact information, demo files and other getting-started information. The Pipe2000 Online Help file and the audio/video tutorials are outlined to help illustrate all aspects of Pipe2000. Also included are a step-by-by QuickStart example system and narratives for several demo files included with the software.

Annual Maintenance Agreement

In reply to many requests, KYPipe now offers an annual maintenance agreement for PIPE2000 based products. KYPipe is continuing to provide free technical support (via phone and email) for our products. Subscribing to the annual maintenance program entitles you to all updates and upgrades for the software that you own, plus many other benefits and discounts. The program cost is 12% of the list price of owned software per year.
