Extended Period Simulation

The Extended Period Simulation (EPS) feature allows the user to make changes to the status of control elements (on/off) and pipes (open/closed) based on the pressure or water levels at sensing nodes. The user can also specify tank levels that will activate control switches, and alter demand patterns. The EPS is carried out over a period of 24 to 144 hours or more. This feature is simple to set up and launch; the user specifies EPS data such as the simulation duration and computational period, and one or more of the following data types:

  1. Tank data.
  2. Demand Pattern data.
  3. Control Switch data.
  4. Power Cost.

When the user specifies a power cost, the EPS feature automatically performs a power cost analysis. This returns the incremental cost for each computational period as well as the cumulative total cost and the total cost for the simulation.
